Class Work
Memory
Tuesday: "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Luke 2:11-12
Friday: Old Testament Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, I and II Samuel, I Kings, II Kings, I and II Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi.
Religion
Jesus taught about God's love and proved He was the promised Messiah. He reconciles us to our Heavenly Father by His death and resurrection. Jesus reigns over all things, protecting His church until His return. He is our prophet, priest, and king.
Spelling
Our spelling words are Christmas-themed and will not follow a pattern:
bulbs, manger, church, ribbon, stocking, lights, early, present, cookie, ornament, wreath, sledding, shepherd, angel, Christmas
Challenge: decorations, nativity, special, reindeer, sleigh
Grammar
We focus on past tense verbs, which tell about an action that has already happened.
Math
We will focus on subtracting 2-digit numbers, number words to 1,000, and adding and subtracting hundreds. Our next test will be on Friday, December 20.
Social Studies
Students will be presenting cultural items that they have in their homes on Tuesday, December 17. If you do not have clothing or a game or toy from another culture, your child could bring in a picture of a cultural item to share with our class. (Examples include a Japanese kimono, the board game Mancala, etc.) The Chapter 5 test will be on Wednesday, December 18.
Zion Lutheran School's Vision: Ministering to families in Jesus' love while embracing and enhancing each child's gifts.
