- Save the Date! 3rd graders will help lead worship by singing at Zion's 11:00 a.m. church service on Sunday, September 22. Students should meet upstairs in the church music room at 10:40 (or immediately following Sunday School).
- 3rd grade will participate in the "Who's for Lunch" program and a nature hike at Busch Wildlife on Thursday, October 3 from 9:30-12:30. (Students will need appropriate shoes for "hiking," and a cold lunch to be eaten when we return.) Permission slips are due back by Friday, September 27.

Religion
We will learn about the Holy Spirit, who guards and strengthens our faith and enables us to live as God's children.

Reading
We will work on reading smoothly and with expression as well as review story elements like character, setting, and plot.
Grammar
We will identify the subject of a sentence as who or what the sentence is about.
Math
We will focus on adding fractions, dozen and half dozen, numbers to $1,000, writing money amounts, and "Adding 9" facts. Our next test will be on Tuesday, September 24.
Science
We will learn about parts of plants and their functions as well as what plants need to survive.
Social Studies
We will review our map skills and will take the Chapter 2 test on Wednesday, September 25. (Students should know the cardinal and intermediate directions as well as how to use a compass and mileage ruler.)
