- Save the Date! 3rd graders will help lead worship by singing at Zion's 11:00 a.m. church service on Sunday, September 22. Students should meet upstairs in the church music room at 10:40 (or immediately following Sunday School).
Repeats
- Zion's worship schedule has returned to Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 a.m.
- If a
student earns less than 80% on a test, I will write, "Please correct
and return," at the top, and the student should return it for half
credit.
- Students can practice their spelling words online at www.spellingcity.com/zion3.
- 3rd grade will participate in the "Who's for Lunch" program and a nature hike at Busch Wildlife on Thursday, October 3 from 9:30-12:30. Please email me if you are able to drive, and include the number of students you can safely fit.

Religion
We will learn about Law and Gospel and basic Christian doctrine.
Spelling
Spelling Patterns:
"ng" (like sing),
"ck" (like clock),
"igh" (like sigh)
Challenge: familiar, hobby, robot, October, body.
Reading
We will continue learning about consonant clusters (like "spr" in "spring.") and also review short vowel sounds.
Grammar
We will review what a complete sentence looks like, specifically two kinds of sentences- statements and questions.
Math
We
will focus on writing the date with digits, rounding to the nearest 10, reading a thermometer, "Adding 2" facts, and fractions (halves, fourths, and eighths).
Science
We will review Chapter 2- Animals- and take the test on Thursday, September 12.
Social Studies
We will begin Chapter 2- Where in the United States is Our Community? We will use a ruler to measure distance and a compass to measure direction on a map from St. Louis to other communities.
